How We Build Werkr Tractors (pt 2)
This week, we spent our time processing the laser cut parts before they get sent away again to be either coated or painted. Before that can happen, every single piece of the tractor needs to be prepped and ready to fit together properly. Processing includes: First, many of the parts are welded together to form larger components, such as the tractors' frame, the lift arms, hitching mechanism, and much more. Welding the lift links Next, many of the parts have holes that need

How We Build Werkr Tractors
We've just received parts for the next two Werkr tractors from the laser cutters'. We work with a local metal product manufacturer, Mar-Way Laser Inc, to produce many of our parts, and it has proved to be an efficient way for us to build our tractors and implements. We still machine a great deal of the mechanical components ourselves, and have spend the last few weeks working in the shop on precision parts for the tractor lifts, foot pedals, steering assemblies, and more! Flame Weeder Test
In the fall, Werkr Tractors developed the first prototype of a covered flame weeding implement. This implement uses six propane nozzles, all supplied by a single tank, to burn wide swaths of land across the full width of the tractor. Integrated heat shields help retain heat close to the ground, allowing the tractor to operate at higher speeds while achieving the same weeding effectiveness and ensuring weeds are fully terminated. The increased operating speed also reduces prop

Getting Gearboxes Ready for Two New Tractors
This winter, Werkr Tractors will be building two new, heavily improved tractors to allow us to gather more experimental field data and receive valuable feedback from our customers. These tractors will spend most of the spring, summer, and fall planting and weeding on various farms in Southern Ontario. We hope to improve the accuracy of our planting and weeding through these experimental tests. In this video, we are pulling the hub off an existing gearbox in order to modify i
